Prepare to enter the storm Alright, it’s almost October. For us UIT students, practice sessions are over. This marks another period of stress and deadlines. Earlier this year, I witnessed two suicides, both around our age, and heard about others throughout the school year. What haunts me isn’t just those two events, but the realization that college pressure is often more subtle than it appears. It doesn’t arrive in a single day, but builds up from grades, comparisons, and feelings of disconnection. Messages for Freshmen Looking back, the past year flew by. I remember the day I left my familiar high school behind and stepped onto the university campus. From finding the gates and parking my car to walking into the lecture hall, everything felt incredibly strange. It felt like a wonderful world, brimming with the promises of “university,” was unfolding before my eyes. Yet, an entire school year has already passed.
