Well, the past few military weeks have been a crazy experience. It’s been a journey of new experiences, meeting new people, and forging new relationships. I also believe this is a great opportunity everyone should experience (sv tron duoc deo).Anyway, whether you choose to board or commute, there’s always a trade-off. One option offers convenience and a “safe zone” but can be boring, while the other is challenging and extreme (requiring effort) but fun. The choice is yours. For example, you can choose between going home to sleep at night or going to the yard for a walk by the lake and eating banana ice cream. Similarly, you choose between getting up the next morning at 6:30 AM, enjoying noodles or pho at your leisure, and then heading to school, or enduring the boring routine from 5 AM: waking up, exercising, a chaotic breakfast, cleaning your room, and then attending classes.I enrolled due to a difficult situation, so I opted for boarding school and ended up being fully immersed in the experience for 3 weeks. However, thanks to this, I also learned some extremely useful lessons for myself, should I ever return:Disclaimer: I’m in Block A3, shared a room with 60 people, and shared plates, so the experience will definitely be different from yours in Blocks B1-5.- Essentials (things I found to be 100% effective in making daily life significantly more convenient):- Definitely need an umbrella. Since I attended during the rainy season, anyone without one is guaranteed to get soaked, unless you subscribe to the philosophy that “heavy rain is just light rain, and light rain isn’t rain at all.” - Water bottles. It goes without saying that training grounds are often far from water sources, so having one (or more) means you won’t have to constantly run for water.- Saline solution: Many people here experience coughs and throat inflammation, so having saline solution for gargling is advisable.- Mini locks for briefcases or suitcases to secure your belongings. I was in Block A3, an all-male, isolated block, so everyone seemed quite relaxed; you could leave your laptop out on your bed, go eat, and it would still be there.- A power strip/extension cord. With 60 people in one room and limited outlets, having a power strip makes you feel like the “landlord” of electricity.- Earplugs. Yes, some of our “dads” (perhaps referring to older or more boisterous individuals) play games until 11 or 12 AM. Without earplugs, you’ll suffer. Fortunately, the lights go out after 9:30 PM, so there’s no need for blindfolds.- Clothes hangers, 5-7 pieces (5 might be enough, but if you’re borrowing or sharing with others, they might get mixed up).- 3-5 sets of clothes. You’ll primarily wear uniforms all day, only changing into casual clothes for the evening at the playground.- And your daily personal belongings.- Preferences (items I found enhanced the experience, but are not strictly essential):- Pillows and blankets. If you want to feel cozy like you’re at home, don’t just lie on the bare bed and cover yourself with a shirt.- Hand fan. At school, only one room is air-conditioned, and Vo Nguyen Giap Hall has a “helicopter fan” that provides some coolness. The rest of the areas are both sunny and hot, especially during summer; it feels like a “tunnel oven” there.- A personal laundry basin. Although basins are available here, supply is low and demand is high. For the best experience, especially for soaking clothes and maintaining hygiene, bring your own basin.- Spices. The food provided is generally quite bland, so having jars of salt or other spices is perfect for adjusting the taste – it’s fire!- A spare charger – self-explanatory!- Fiber supplements or “vegetable candy.” Some people experience constipation here, so buying drinks (like fruit juice or fiber drinks) to improve the “toileting experience” is a good idea.- Games, board games, and talent. People bring out games like “dark werewolves” (Mafia/Werewolf) to play with friends, or sing. You can also go down to the yard and sit on the lawn to play; it might even attract girls (I haven’t tried it myself, but maybe!).- Items you might be able to buy in the cafeteria (I visited all the supermarkets, but haven’t actually entered the cafeteria, so I can’t say much definitively):- Toothbrush, soap, hooks, pens, and belts are typically available in the cafeteria.- Fruits (yes, eat more vegetables and fruits to avoid constipation).- Large filtered water bottle (I usually buy a 5L bottle and then refill it from the drinking room for convenience).- Unspoken Rules:- When showering as a group, at least wear underwear. Don’t play “solitary games” alone (unless everyone in the 60-person room is doing it).- On the 2nd floor of Block A3, the shower in the toilet cubicle actually works, so if you want privacy, go there. Otherwise, you’ll have to take a “pig bath” (a quick, less private wash) or use the bidet spray on the 3rd floor.- When choosing a place to sleep, prioritize beds near shelves and fans. With an electrical outlet nearby, it’s also easy to store and charge things.- When eating, don’t be shy; confidently go straight to the kitchen and ask for more food. Fried dishes, extra bowls of meat, whatever — they’re not stingy. Be assertive, eat more!- Don’t worry about studying; it’s almost impossible to fail. You can play all day, review for just one morning, and still score 9-10 on exams as usual. The important thing is to read carefully and keep a cool head during the exam (these are rare moments when you’re sitting in air conditioning, by the way!).- If your company is lucky enough to have Mr. Cao Tien Dung, consider it a jackpot.Anyway, that’s what I’ve gathered from the experience, after a series of “dirty and muddy” days :))). It came with great experiences and unforgettable memories. What about everyone else? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. And to those who will follow, I wish you a unique experience in your student life.(Please, dung ai nhac den cai truyen thuyet do thi o phong tam A3.304, A3.305)
